Chin National Tradition Attire Speaks Loudest to Show the World Who the Chins Are

Chin National Tradition Attire Speaks Loudest
to Show the World Who the Chins Are.

                                                             B

Pu Lian Uk, Former MP from Hakha Township

To put on Chin fashion dress is most important where the world is now watching the peace talk of the Union of Myanmar (UM) as the spectators are watching the boxers in the boxing ring. We claim to practice our inalienable rights of self determination in the Chin territory which we have brought together with us to the Panglong agreement. Panglong agreement recognized the Chin territory boundaries with its neighbors especially with the Burmans and the Arakanese in the Section 2 of the constitution of Union of Burma 1947.

The British neutrally demarcated the boundaries of the 4 colonies Chins, Kachins, Shans and Burma ministerial. There was also sub boundaries of Myanmar, Karen, Mon, Arakan and Burmans in the Burma Ministerial too. So Arakan, Mons, Burmans, Karen were represented by General Aung San as the Chief Minister of the Burma ministerial State in which were Mon representative MPs Arakan Representative MPs, Karen Representative MPs and Burman Representative MPs in the state parliament of the Burma ministerial.

Chin State (Rf. freeburmaranger.org)

Those MPs elected their Chief minister of Burma Ministerial colony. General Aung San was the elected Chief Minister to represent Burma Ministerial government at the Panglong agreement. Arakanese, Mons, Karen signed Panglong agreement through General Aung Sans who was their representative of their state Burma Ministerial. So Panglong agreement was signed by Chin British colony, Kachin British colony Shan British colony and Myanmar Ministerial British colony.
Kaya as Karenni was recognized by the British as an independent princely State before Panglong agreement was signed. But they came to join the Union of Burma after Panglong Agreement. Karen who struggled for their cause since prior to Panglong agreement also joined the Union accepting Panglong agreement signatory in retrospective.
We are to retain that heritage territory of the Chins bestowed by our successive fore fathers which they defended even against the British invasion with fully armed they could afford and a British military officer of a Major rank was awarded VC (Victoria Cross) for his bravery in the battle   with Chins at Siallum Fortress. Chin youths are to visit that Siallum Fortress to see how it was a fiercely fought in the battle ground by the Chins against the invading British troops. So, we claim now the self-determination and democracy in the Chin territory that joined the Union of Burma in volunteer with their territory of clearly demarcated boundary.

Whenever there is boundary problem between Chins and Burmans this Boundary demarcated by the British become the best and most authentic evidence of demarcated boundary line that decide the Chin Burman boundary as the boundary demarcation was recognized by the Panglong Agreement in the section 2 of the constitution of the Union of Burma 1947. The core reason the Chin claim self-determination is based on Panglong Agreement so that the Chin territory becomes one of the constituent units of the federal Union of Burma. And that self-determination in the federalism of Union of Burma (UB) is with an aim and object that the Chin people are to retain and develop their territory with their culture and language with the state power of Legislative, Executive and the Judiciary.

Union of Burma was known better and wider worldwide once through UN General Secretary U Thant. It is now known widely through Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Chin national in the same way is to be known in the names of their leaders and their delegations. Union A Chin Traditional attire mostly traditionally designed in the Central Chin area.
His excellency Vice President Henry VanThio and Chin State Chief Minister are given much credit by the Chin population as they usually dress in Chin national costume attire,
CNF leaders also usually attend the Peace talks meeting in Chin national costume attire.

The CNF leaders to be in Chin national costume and attire is most important as the Peace negotiation is watched closely by the international people to understand who the stag holders ethnic armed groups are in the peace Process. So, the CNF leaders in Chin national traditional attire means that they are so serious about the self-determination cause of the Chin people in the eyes of the outside world. There can be a question that have they done enough?

Hakha City
Any person who are in Chin national attire like the Chin leaders are automatically recognized as Chins as they put on the same costume as their national leaders. That is the real spirit on claiming the self-determination rights in the Burma federalism. People in the Union of Myanmar recognize that leaders like Pu Zing Cung, Pu Lian Hmung Sakhong and Pu Sekhar are Chin leaders personally. If those leaders put on Chin traditional national costume in the meeting any person who are seen with same kind of Chin national costume are recognized by the people as Chins people. The Chin delegates they lead them are seen by the world as Chins only if they put on the Chin national costume attire in the Peace talk. So, to let the world know widely about the Chins is important for the Chin leaders to be in Chin National Attire. People may think that Chin leaders should not put on any Chin national attire as they are not officially declared Chin tradition attire.

But we do have in truth Chin traditional attire in various colors and embroideries. Any Chin in regional or section traditional attire are all attires of various colors and an embroidery own by the whole Chins. Chins leaders like CNF are ideally to have all the Chin traditional attire we have in various colors and put on alternatively so that each section or part of the Chin region and section take in ideal that they represent them too. Any attire of color or embroideries can be chosen by any Chin to put on as Chin traditions no matter to which region or section he/she belongs to. Chin has no Uniformity in their national attire. We need not have such Unity in Uniformity. But we do recognize that the traditional costume of any section or region of the Chins people are all recognized as one of the Chin various costume. The Chins are to recognize any traditional Chin national costume by recognizing which kind of color and embroideries is produced or designed in which part of the Chin society. Our national attire is mainly in blanket fashion and the way to put on blanket that is commonly used is what the lovely wedding parties here are putting on the tradition blanket designed and produced in Central Chin.

Various kinds of Chin Traditional Dress (Rf. 4laimi.wordpress.com)
We have in various colors and embroideries and fundamentally you will recognize their similarities in colors. Here in the picture is the red color and the white color which the bride and the groom put on in white and the rest put on in red and embroideries.

Chin mostly used tradition dress of blanket and we have the way to put on in fashion show. Chin people and the people in Naga hills and Nagaland practiced much unity in diversity. That is, we recognized the different attires we have all to be owned by the Chin people and we can alternatively put on any costume that are used in any part of the Chin people. So whatever regional costume we put on it should be recognized by all the Chins that whatever costume of any section of the Chin people is to recognize as Chin national tradition costume.

Beautiful Chin girl with traditional dress
The world is now watching the Peace Talk of the Union of Myanmar like the playing boxers are in the boxing ring. Chin must be identified by the world that they have their representatives in their most important negotiation and talk. Chin delegates to the Peace talk are much encouraged to put on Chin national costume glaringly. The whole Chin people should also recognize that any costume of Chin tradition of any part they put on represent the Chin national identity. The delegates are not to forget Chin nationalism in the talk. That sense is seeking Chin national self determination to make them courageous and daring if they are nationalists enough.

We are denying our national identity if we do not recognize the Unity in diversity structure and Ideal. CNF is the place where all sections of the Chin people are best joined together forging the sense of Unity in diversity. “Unity in diversity” could be said as recognizing as a people of Chin ethnicity what minor differences we have in dialect and costume in which all the differences have basic and fundamental similarity that make us a people.

People in Nagaland and Mizoram have many similar affinities with the Chins as the same people. But they have long been in India in which country no term like “Chin” never exist and happened to have different names to suit Republic of India. We doubt whether they also have some notion that they have many similar affinities in the two of them like they have the same similar affinities with the people in the name Chins in the Union of Burma.

The Evil Alliances of the World

President George W. Bush called "Iran, Iraq and North Korea-Evil of Axis"  January 29, 2002 in the Union Speech because of their support of terrorism, productions of weapons of mass destruction and human right abuses in their country by the regimes. Still Iraq, Iran and North Korea are problematic in the international political arena. They are truly "Evil of Axis" until today. Should Iraq and Iran choose the paths to be the "evil of axis?"

Once again. Leaders in Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria are the New Evil Alliances of the world against the Kurdish people. All these four countries are the most violent and corrupt countries in the world. There was virtually no political and religious freedom in those countries in this time. Human right abuses are severe even in Turkey which is more secular than other three countries. Social justice and civil liberty is almost none in those countries.

The regimes in those four countries brutally crashed and repressed their own people for decades. They are authoritarians. They oppressed their own people. They put people in prison who opposed against them. Especially the Turkish President Recep Tayyit Erdogan is one of the worst authoritarian leaders in the modern world right now. He bullies the ethnic Kurdish minority both in Turkey and Syria. He is the worst Democracy Dictator in the 21st century. He is not only a dictator but also an "occupier" of other nation-Syria. Therefore, Turkey should not be accepted as one of the EU members or NATO members because of his violations of human rights and the right of minorities in his country and sending Turkish army to Syria.

All these four countries have given the entire world and the UNO members enough burdens, headaches, pains and they are continuously creating uncertainty for the future. The whole world is tired of the problems in these four countries. They are by nature so aggressive and hostile to their own ethnic minority people Kurdistan. The people in these countries are war mongers since the time of the time of Nebuchadnezzar in the 6th century BC. Iran and Iraq fought the longest war in the 20th century. It is ashamed. Mesopotamia is a mess since the Old Testament time to present day. Iran and Iraq should consider about it. They need to stop their aggressive and reprisal behaviors and need to forsake their culture of wars. Iran and Iraq know how to fight but don't know how to stop fighting and make peace. That is the biggest problem for them and for the world today. The whole world is dealing with the problem in Mesopotamia for many decades. It is deplorable history.

The Wests need to understand the military strategy of the Iran regime. Their plan is to get access to Mediterranean Sea from Iran via Northern Iraq to Syria and then to Hezbollah militia's control area in Lebanon. Iran has been trying hard to control land road from Iran-Iraq-Syria to Lebanon and infiltrate into those countries. Their plan is very dangerous for Israel and Western Allies in the region. Iran saw Kurdistan Independence movement as a stumbling block to their plan and so they reject the independence referendum vote of the Kurds. They do not allow the Kurdistan to get independence. There is another reason that Turkey and Syria and Iraq also have great fears to the strong Kurdish people in their own countries. All the Kurdish people around the world need to unite against the Evil Alliances around the Kurdistan regions unless they will be wiped off from the world's map.

The West also need to know that Iran doesn't like Israel. Most Iranian leaders hate Israel. For example, the former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (2003-2013) was so hostile to Israel and he said about Israel as "disgraceful blot" and should be "wiped off the map." His policy toward Israel was like Nazi German's policy. Iranian policy and behavior is so dangerous not only for Israel but also for the allies of Israel. Iraqi Vice President Nouri Miliki also compared Kurdistan and said that Iraq will not accept "another Israel" after the Prime Minister Benjamin Nathanyahu's support of Kurdistan independence vote.

Moreover, the Shiite leaders in Iraq and Iran are the supporters of Hezbollah Shiite fighters, the chief enemy of Israel, in Lebanon in one way or another.  Hezbollah never recognized and always tries to destroy Israel. If Iran succeeds their plan to make corridor from Iran to Iraq, Syria and then to Lebanon, it will be a grave danger and threat for peace and stability in Israel. Israel needs to stop the influence of Iranian weapons and militants into Syria and Lebanon in any means.  Prime Minister Nathan Yahu foresees the potential destructive forces of Iran Shiite regime against Israel and he used to bomb targeted sites in Syria like bomb making factories and arm and missile depots and military installations deep inside Syria to prevent the the follows of those dangerous weapons. And he and his government openly and clearly supports the independence movement of Kurdistan. He is brave, courageous and determined. His decision is bold and heroic. He even persuaded United States to support Kurdistan independence because he knew dangers are coming to Israel like a dark storm from Iran, Iraq and Syria.

But President Trump said "US have good relationship with both Kurds and Iraqi. We do not take side." His position is wrong philosophically and politically. It is  not a wise decision. It is not a bold decision either. The world's great leaders normally took sides when they had two choices in the world history.  Pre. Trump must choose side to made a clear decision and stand for his decision since he cannot love both Kurds and Iraqi people at the same time. Pre. Trump is not telling the truth yet inside his heart. He must take side and stand up for that side if he is a heroic leader. If he is a friend of both Iraq and Kurds, he is not really a true friend of either party. Pre. Trump needs to realize that. I believe that Pre. Trump definitely choose Kurdishtan people and stands for them firmly until they get full independence because Iraq and Iran regimes are very closed friends. US should not expect the love and kisses from Iraq which is already the puppet of Iran Shiite regime. Can America and the EU trust that evil alliances of Mesopotamia?

In fact, Iraq always cheated and will cheat USA and the West. They are in fact good friends of Iran regime. Therefore President Trump needs a clear choice and make a bold decision which will judge the history of the Middle East in the near future. As a great leader of the world, he needs to make a heroic and manly decision like Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. who chose side. Nethanyahu is the only bold leader who clearly foresee the imminent dangers of the evil alliances of Mesopotamia-Iran and Iraq. Netanyahu's decision is precise, clear, bold, manly and smart. A man must choose side when it is important and critical for the world's affairs.

Russia, knowing the long political problem in the Middle East so well, is more positive on the issue of Kurdistan independence. Russia foreign minister thought peaceful dialogue is needed for Iraq and Kurdistan leaders and avoid confrontation. Russian oil company is still in Kurdistan region in the midst of the crisis today.

It is very sad that Boris Johnson, British Foreign minister, told Iraqi Prime Minister Abdi that "Kurdistan referendum ah was a mistake." He probably forgot how the British Empire and French created this historical problem one hundred years ago. Today's Kurdistan's problem is actually caused by "The British mistake." British and France government did unforgivable mistakes which created the Kurdistan problem for over one hundred years. British and France government have sole responsibility to fix Iraqi Kurdistan crisis. The world did not forget how the British and France had created this mess one century ago. They were the most responsible nations for Kurdistan's crisis.

Besides, Turkey who is the American NATO friend, also hates Israel and always support Hamas, the enemies of Israel. Many western countries call Hamas militant as a terrorist organization, which always tries to destroy Israel and their land. It is very clear now that Iraq and Iran leaders do not want Kurdistan independence movement and they accused Kurdistan independence movement as Israeli plots. Turkey is normally a flip flop country between NATO and Russia and Middle East. Turkey can't be trusted either.

The West need to understand that Iraq government is dominant by Shiite Muslims and they have had a very close relationship with Iran after the fall of Saddam Hussein in the 2003 Iran Invasion, which was one of the greatest mistakes in the modern history made by President George W. Bush. In fact the 2003 Iraqi invasion cased the rise of Shiite Muslim in Iraq and Syria and Lebanon. Today many Iranian military intelligent agents and Shiite militants are participating in the war against ISIS. This same Iran ans Iraq Shiite militants forces are trying to fight Peshmerga forces in the region of Kirkuk.

After the rise of ISIS in Iraq and Syria, Iran has gained so much influences in Iraq and Syria as Shiites militant forces fight against the ISIS since the fall of Mosul in 2014. Thousands of Iran armies are fighting ISIS along with Russia and Syrian government troops in Syria. It clearly shows that Iran has a very firm presence in Syria now. Then Iran will establish a Shiite "corridor," with land links from Iran-Iraq-Syria to Lebanon, allowing the movement of Shiite fighters and Iranian weapons across the region. Israel is so fearful to Lebanese Shiite fighters, Hezbollah, who are in the country's doorstep of Israel. Israel fought a month-long war against Hezbollah in 2006 and never cleared off the Hezbollah, who have thousands of Iranian rockets in their territories now.

Therefore the Iranian's influence in Syria is a very dangerous game for Israel and Israel bombed Iranian weapon's depots and convoys who carries weapons for Syria and Hezbollah. PM Netanyahu said that Israel won't allow the Iranian presence in Syria and prevent it in any means. He is absolutely right because Iran leaders always try to destroy Israel and the Iranian presence in Israeli's doorstep is a grave dangers for Israel. Netanyahu needs to defend Israel in any preemptive strikes.

The Iranian policy and fighter's movements across the region show that the unknown numbers of Shiite fighters from Iran to Lebanon are actively involve in the civil war in Syria and the war against ISIS in both Syria and Iraq. It is clear that Iran will play a huge military and political role in the region after the end of Syrian civil war and the war against ISIS in Iraq.

Iran's influence and control of the land can be seen last week in Kirkuk which the Iraqi had deserted in 2014. Iran Shiite militias entered the city and drove out the Kurdistan militias from the city last Sunday night and on Monday. Now Kirkuk is in the hands of Iraq and Shiite Militias. About 150 Peshmerga fighgters were killed and 162 wounded. It was a huge lost for the Kurds. It means freedom is not cheap and is actually very expensive and it came with cost. But Kurdish people and their leaders should stand up on their ground and fight against the invaders of Iraqi army and Iran militias. The leaders of Kurdistan and their people should not give up their dream and desire of independence even if no countries around the world support them. The Kurdistan people must understand that their independence is inevitable. One day they will be free from the oppression of the Evil Alliances of the World and they will be a free and strong nation. All Kurdish people around need to join their fights for freedom and self-determination.

Now the Evil Alliances (Iraq, Iran, Syria and Turkey) are gearing up to destroy the Kurdish people and their land and put the whole region in their hands. In order to succeed their objectives, the Shiite militias, the so-called Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), are fighting Peshmerga forces in northern Iraq today. PMF are the most dangerous militias from Iran and Iraq formed in 2014 to fight the ISIS. They have both weapons of Iran and US weapons. PMF used those weapons to kill Peshmerga fighters and they drove them out from Northern Iraq.

These PMF should not be allies for the Western countries and they can't be trusted by the Wests. They may be the most dangerous militias for the American armies in Iraq. They can become enemies of US troops in Iraq in any day. Therefore, the Wests including the USA must critically consider pros and con of Kurdistan independence vote and choose side where and why they should stand up for? If they choose the wrong side, they must prepare another humanitarian crisis like the time of Saddam Hussein and ISIS up raising in 2014 which drove many thousand refugees in around the Middle East.

Prayer for Peace in Kurdistan Region

The whole world need to pray for the Kurdish people who suffered under the hands of Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria for more than 100 years. Especially the Kurdish people in Iraq have suffered the most human right abuses in 20th century under the Iraqi regimes. They were bombed by Iraqi pilots. They were abused, gassed and killed many thousands by Iraqi armies during the Saddam Hussein regime. Iraqi armies onslaught the Kurds under the eyes of the world leaders. Nobody helped them.

Now they the Iraqi Kurds are trying to get independence and are struggling to get self-determination and independence from the Iraqi Shiite regime. Today's Iraqi government is actually the the puppet of Iranian Shiite regime. Leaders of the whole world need to know about the the strong and close connection and relationship between Shiite government in Iraq and Iran.

Kurdish are threatened by all sides by neighboring countries namely Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran, who should not act like the enemies to their small neighboring ethnic minority. They need to respect the rights and wills of ethnic minority Kurds. All these four countries need to work and negotiate and make dialogue with the Iraqi Kurdistan people.

It was a very sad history in the UN's leadership like Rwanda Genocide and genocide in Darfur and South Sudan. It is more sadness in the UN's history regarding the mass killing of Kurdistan people by Saddam Hussien's regime. UN needs to intervene and prevent the war monger Saddam Hussein from killing Shiite and Kurdish minority people in Iraq. No one, the US or EU or UN stood up for Kurdish people during Saddam Hussein's regimes and the Kurds suffered terrible losses. Saddam Hussein tried to do ethnic cleansing of the Kurds in his time. Saddam Hussein wrote a very bad history.

By the influence and help of Iran Shiite regime and Iraqi government is attacking the Kurds again and they are suffering again. So, we all need to pray and stand up for the Kurdish people for their existence. The world's leaders need to understand that the Kurd people need their own independent country which is not ruled by Iran, Turkey, Iraq and Syria.

We need to pray for freedom, peace and justice for Iraqi Kurdish people and all minority people in Iraq today.

1. We pray for the Kurdish people for their desire for self-determination to decide their fate
2. We pray for two Kurdistan parties-PUK and KDP- to unite and stand up for their independence.
3. We pray for Masoud Barzani, the President of KRG to be a strong leader for his people
4. We pray for the brave Peshmerga fighters who defend their their land, people and freedom
5. We pray for the Kurdish people so that they can stand up against the evil forces around them
6. We pray the economy and well being of the Kurdish people so that they may not be hungry
7. We pray for Kurdish people so that they will get supports from USA, Russia and EU and UN body for their struggles for freedom and self-determination
8. We pray for the land of the Kurdish people to produce enough supplies for the people
9. We pray for Iraqi Prime Minister so that he can negotiate with the Kurdish people peacefully
10. We pray for the whole regions for peace, stability and to live together peacefully
11. We pray for people Turkey, Iran, Iraq and Syria to stop wars and fighting each others
12. We pray for the UN so that it can take a huge role in the world's problems
13. We pray for peace for all the suffering people in Iraq who are suffering for decades of wars
14. We pray for peace in the Middle East so that they can live together without hatreds

We pray with faith and hope because God hear our prayer and establish peace, justice and freedom in that region.
